New images sent by the U.S. probe Phoenix on Mars shows a white matter, possibly ice or salt, in a pit dug in the soil of the Red Planet, NASA said.
On the website of the American Space Agency have been sent to probe images displayed in this matter which is visible light color.
One specialist said the mission team members who follow NASA probe "had an argument when it comes to salt, ice or even more exotic matter. "
Experts are trying to use the robotic arm to probe the material collected and submitted to analyze it in a small laboratory called TEGA, found inside of Phoenix.
The probe arrived on Mars in the Arctic last week in an attempt to find water ice cap, which could prove the existence of life on Mars.
Phoenix has traveled 679 million miles, was launched in August 2007.Valoarea mission in space is almost 420 million dollars.
